The Ghana Institute of Planning (GIP) is the foremost professional body for planners in Ghana, established to regulate, promote, and advance the discipline and practice of planning in all its forms. Founded on March 28, 1969, the Institute was born out of the need to support national development through the institutionalization of professional planning practices that are ethical, inclusive, and sustainable. Including spatial planning, development policy, transportation, environmental assessment, urban and regional planning, as well as local governance

Our objectives

The Institute is registered for the following purposes and objectives
1. To organize and unite in fellowship Planners in Ghana.
2. To promote research, training and education in planning
3. To promote and facilitate the acquisition of knowledge of the various
arts and sciences connected with Planning.
4. To promote and safeguard the professional interest of members of the
Institute.
5. To ensure a high standard of professional conduct and practice
6. To investigate and make recommendations for remedial action on
7. matters of breach to standards and ethics of the planning profession.
8. To set and maintain professional standards and qualifications at levels
internationally acceptable.
9. To foster cooperation with centres of planning education as well as
allied professional bodies in Ghana and abroad.
10. To facilitate the pursuit of all such other lawful undertakings as may
be connected with furtherance of the foregoing objects.
